Kawser Amine is a trailblazing leader and advocate dedicated to women's empowerment and refugee rights. She is the Founder and CEO of Women Solidarity For Peace and Leadership (WSPL) and the Amine Soccer Academy and appointed Commissioner on the Status of Women and Girls in the state of California. Kawser serves on the boards of over 15 nonprofit, philanthropic, and refugee-led organizations, including the UN Global Goodwill Ambassador and the United Nations Football for the Goals Campaign SDGs.
She was raised in Kabul, Afghanistan; her journey is one of resilience and determination. She earned a bachelor's degree in General Management with a specialization in International Relations from ISBM Delhi, India, and holds a High-Level Sports Philanthropy certificate from George Washington University. She is a former national soccer player who has been a formidable force in breaking gender barriers and taboos and challenging societal norms. Her passion for sports and gender equality has fueled her commitment to championing the inclusion of women in athletics, both in Afghanistan and globally.
Kawser's career spans over 15 years in civic engagement, politics, community work, coalition building, and public service. She has held high-level roles in Afghanistan, advocating tirelessly for women's leadership and access to education, sports, leadership, politics, and financial resources. Coming to the US, she began a new chapter in her career; as a former refugee in the US, she deeply understands the challenges displaced populations face. Kawser is committed to reforming the U.S. immigration system, enhancing the refugee admission program, and addressing issues faced by refugee women.
She has actively worked on state and federal policies, advocating for the rights of displaced individuals, building coalitions, creating forums, and uniting communities to welcome, integrate, and support those seeking peace, safety, and a better future.
